ISLAND MLJET

Mljet is the first larger island one come upon while sailing the Croatian Adriatic from the direction from south to north. It is Croatia’s greenest island with its Mediterranean vegetation, clear and clean sea, gentle sandy shoreline and a wealth of underwater sea life. The island is conisdered to be one of the most beautiful of the Croatian islands too. Mljet is well known for its white and red wine, olives and goat’s cheese. Mljet is indeed s unspoilt island that is covered by a dense Mediterranean forest. The sea around the island is rich in fish and marine life. Mljet is also well known for it’s two salted lakes – Veliko and Malo Jezero that are located at the north end of the island…

GASTRONOMY

Mljet has long been known for its superb cuisine, which brought with them the Romans, after they had been nurtured abbots on the Island of St. Mary and today the guests present island restaurants, inns and taverns. Težački menu was also delicious, primarily because of the abundance of high quality fish, shellfish and other seafood.
Taste Mljet delicacies like macaroni, which are made from garlic (garlic) and goat cheese spread and the smell of prosperity; pandišpanja – old-fashioned cakes are not so rich ingredients, how emotions and nostalgic touch of the old times; Recall, tuberculosis, arancini, and own products islanders – Mljet golden olive oil, jam, brandy and wine!

Walking & Hiking
Opened on April 28 2012. This pass is dedicated to all mountain lovers, especially the mountain youth who recognizes the value of staying in the countryside.

Cycling
From the macadam field trials ideal for mountain bikes to the asphalted roads for family sightseeing, cycling on Mljet offers huge variety of ideal trails for everyone’s taste.
Kayak/canoeHowever, paddling and biking mixed with untouched nature round the lakes and bike adventure all over the Island will make your holiday unforgettable.
Diving
 Mljet is rich in underwater life that can be seen in the exceptional divesites, underwater caves and sunken walls. Many amphora showing that Mljet is situated on an important maritime route of ancient Greek galleys and sailing in the Adriatic. Crystal clear Sea further enhances the experience exciting day and night dives into the blue.

Speleology
Mljet is an island that is full of caves and ground erosions from its location on the Mediterranian sea. The most famous is the Odyssey’s Cave, to which you can enter from the sea by a small boat. There are also many other attractive and lovely caves such as Ostasevica and Morvica which are parts of the mountain in the center of the island.

 Coast and beaches
 For those people who arrive on the island with a boat interesting ports are: Okuklje, Prožurska Luka, Sobra, Polače, Pomena and Sutmiholjska and Garma on the South of the island. You shouldn’t miss the early swimming in the crystal clear sea which is an unique experience.
